Opened just over a year ago, the sixteen villa Nayara Springs make up the adults-only annex to Arenal Nayara Hotel Spa and Gardens.
Throughout the villas, teak and other hardwoods are complemented by bamboo ceilings. Four-poster, king beds, as well as a daybed, share half the villa space with a marble-floor bathroom, whose soap and shampoo for the dual vanities and indoor shower are stored in folksy ceramic containers.
With the only access via a 200-foot-long footbridge (made of recycled plastic planks) that spans a thickly wooded ravine and creek, Nayara Springs specializes in seclusion, which has made it a haven for honeymooners. Golf carts quietly hum along stone pathways, through landscaping that explodes with heliconia, orchids and red ginger plants.
Couples can arrange for a private chef’s dinner, or even turn the yoga pavilion into a wedding venue. The villas not only have a dedicated check-in and concierge service, but a range of complimentary amenities, from laundry to international calls.
The smoking crater of Arenal volcano sits almost 5,500ft above the lush green valley and surrounding forest. The region is a wonderland for adventure and activities, with almost everything possible. Rainforest hikes, white-water rafting and horseback riding are just a few of the immediate options. Nature tours show off the best of the local wildlife and there are natural hot springs to ease into at the day’s end.
