Trip Description
Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport by your guide and transferred to your
accommodation. We begin with a tour of the capital, Port Vila, on the main island
of Efate – a small, vibrant city blending English, Australian, French and local
influences.
You spend the next day discovering the magical island of Efate: we learn the way
of life of local communities centuries ago (including viewing remnants from the
era of cannibalism). We stop at the beautiful Eton Beach for a relaxing swim;
cruise in outrigger canoes on Epule River and enjoy a sumptuous lunch. We also
witness the unique fire-walking ceremony and then take a moment to relax at the
spectacular Undine Bay for afternoon tea.
The following day we go on a hike and visit a cattle farm, tropical gardens, and a
beautiful rock pool where you can swim deep in a tropical rainforest.
On Day 4, you will get many opportunities to explore the culture of this
fascinating country, including visiting the National Museum, as well as a unique
art gallery.
We then spend a day at sea, visiting various islands and meet your island hosts,
with opportunities to snorkel in warm tropical waters and observe the abundant
marine life.
On Day 6, we fly to Tanna, where you get to explore one of the world’s most
accessible volcanoes: we take a 4WD up to near the rim, and walk the rest of the
way. We stay just until dusk, and then at night, driving away, you can often get to
see the molten lava eruptions!
While on Tanna you will participate in your Volunteer Project. You will be
assisting a remote village, whose warmth and hospitality you are sure to cherish
forever. You will get to interact meaningfully with them as you help with building,
repair and renovation, or medical projects (if you are medically trained).
After your four meaningful days of volunteering, we return to Efate and have the
rest of the day at leisure.
On Day 12, we visit a marine adventure park, snorkel amongst multi colour reefs,
view fish life through a glass bottom boat and lie on a beach. Another day
cruising tropical islands (Day 13), exploring cascading waterfalls and a jungle
river kayak (Day 14) complete your memorable stay.
Trips include all meals that reflect the variety of local eating experiences
including Melanesian, beach picnic, French café’s and restaurants as well as
casual dining at local establishments. All transfers, entry fees etc are also
included.
We also donate 5% of your trip’s value to the purchase of materials to assist in
funding the projects you work on. If you have specialist skills, knowledge, or an
