Your "Taste of Volunteering" Project
Repairs and Renovations, ad hoc Village Based Projects
You will work alongside the local people constructing new rooms in a school in the remote, non-touristic village of Talamenzou, in Guemassa region, south-west of Marrakech.
Three additional rooms are being constructed: a library, a computer room, and a reading room.
You can help put up the roof alongside the local workers, and also to apply the finishing touches to the walls. There will also be opportunity to interact with the children at the school, who will be thrilled to have you helping them!
Trip Summary
Your inspiring trip begins with a tour of Marrakech, which oozes life and character. You spend the next three days on a spectacular hike in the Atlas mountains, before driving the “route of the thousand kasbahs” (citadels) to Ouarzazate. In Zagora we take a camel ride into the Sahara desert.

There will also be opportunity to interact with the children at the school, who will be thrilled to have you helping them! You then enjoy a well-earned rest at the seaside town of Essaouira, where you can tour the old town, or just relax at Essaouira’s beautiful beach. The trip ends back in Marrakech late on Day 16.
We begin with a tour of Marrakech, the “red city” that oozes life and character, with its souks (markets), gardens, museums, and of course the Djeema el Fna, a square that every evening is transformed into an open air market filled with musicians, dancers, storytellers and snake charmers.
We ascend to the High Atlas mountains for an afternoon’s walk to Tacheddirt, crossing the Tizi-n-Addi (pass) and mixing with the Berber people overnight. The next day is a tougher, 6 hour trek, up to 3,555m, passing through a landscape of multi coloured hillsides and rocky peaks, with the greenery of the valley below us, arriving at Tizi-n-Likemt. Dropping down steadily the next day, we continue trekking and pass through several small villages and finally arrive at Amsouzerte, on the valley floor. We drive the “route of the thousand kasbahs” (citadels) to Ouarzazate, via the famous kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. In Zagora we take a camel ride into the Sahara desert. We continue in the desert the following day, viewing the stunning dunes of Erg Chebbi, and spending the night in nomad Marabou tents in Mergouza.
One of Morocco’s most glorious sights, the Todra Gorge, is next: some 300m high but only 10m wide at its narrowest point, with a river running through it. You can rock climb here as well. We get there via Erfoud, one of Morocco’s most important oases.
