Trip Highlights

Your ''Taste of Volunteering'' Project

Work on local conservation projects to restore and enhance natural habitats:

Trip Summary

The southerly city of Dunedin is steeped in Scottish heritage. However it is the natural beauty of New Zealand and its preservation that is the highlight of this trip. Learn about the geology, early Maori history, birds and forests on a glorious coastal walk around the Caitlins. A dawn excursion to a local yellow eyed penguin and sea lion colonies is a great introduction to the volunteer project.

Enjoy the rewards and fun of working on a vital conservation project. Help to ensure the ongoing existence of native species, restore natural habitats and reduce the threat of pests.

New Zealand is famed for its remarkable scenery of lakes, mountains and volcanoes. One of the highlights is the world renowned Doubtful Sound. An overnight cruise is the best way to discover the fur seals and bottlenose dolphins frolicking in the hidden coves. To get up close and personal, venture out in a sea kayak or go exploring in the tender craft with nature guide.

Queenstown is the home of adventure sports. Rafting, jet boating, bungee jumping, helicopter rides are all on offer! The grand finale is a scenic flight into the Siberia valley for a stunning trek and an exhilarating jet boat ride.

*For the 'Glacier Extension', there is an additional night in Makarora before the glaciers.
