Due to its size, Australia really is a year-round destination, so it depends which parts you would like to visit.

The southern sections such as Melbourne and Adelaide are at their best from November to April, though both cities get very hot, especially in January-February.

Sydney has such a temperate climate you can comfortably visit anytime.

Further north, such as Brisbane, Cairns, and Darwin have monsoon rains from December to March, and some roads can be impassable. This area is cooler, drier and more popular from June to October.

Similarly, the best time to visit the Great Barrier Reef is from June to November, when the weather is mild and visibility is generally good. Avoid visiting from December to March when northern Queensland has a distinct wet season, bringing oppressive heat and abundant rainfall.
