Prince Lot Hula Competition - Hawaii

The largest non-competitive hula celebration in Hawaii, the two-day festival, held on the third Saturday and Sunday in July, honors Prince Lot Kapuaiwa, who reprised hula in the Moanalua district by staging parties at his summer home in Moanalua, now located at the historic Moanalua Gardens. Other festival highlights include traditional arts workshops, cultural demonstrations, handcrafters fair, a morning concert by the Kamehameha Alumni Glee Club, a noon concert by the Royal Hawaiian Band, and delicious local foods. Hula groups throughout the islands perform both ancient and contemporary songs and chants. Admission is free although guests are encouraged to make a donation or purchase a festival button for $5 to support the event.
