Simply one of the finest properties we have ever stayed at. There are three villas, each of which is available only for exclusive use, each with their own pool, and each one unique and spectacular:
– Cliff Villa: perhaps the most stunning, sleeps 8
– Garden Vila: sleeps 4
– Beach Villa: sleeps 6
Owners Fabrizio and Marika live on site, and are the most charming, affable and engaging hosts imaginable. Nothing is too much trouble for them or their superbly trained butlers and other staff, for if the rooms were not enough, the service and cuisine (Mediterranean with an African twist) are the best we know of in Kenya.
Children of all ages are welcome. Even better, two English-speaking nannies are on hand if you feel like a break. There are plenty of games available as well as a TV and video if needed. Alfajiri is the ideal place for families with small children when you are wanting to relax and know your children are in good hands.
The only downside is that the beach is small and not the best in the area, but there is an in-house driver on hand to whisk you to whichever beach is best for what you want to do, be it snorkel, kite-surf, or paddle around.
Mombasa is an island that touts African, Middle Eastern and Asian influences, with mosques alongside churches on the streets. The Old Town and Fort Jesus are the main sightseeing spots in the city, while more upmarket, quieter Diani Beach attracts local sun worshipers and has a wealth of restaurants and bars.
