Alta Gracia

This lush new Boutique Hacienda sits high in the mountains of Pérez Zeledon, in the southern region of Costa Rica, in what is one of the country’s last to be-discovered – and best – hideaways.

Alta Gracia was created as the only “Boutique Hacienda” in the country, seeking to welcome you in their own unique and personal style. Like that of a true Hacienda, its house-style welcome is what defines it.

The hacienda is perfect if you like to be picked up by elegantly saddled horses upon landing at The Hacienda’s airstrip, or enjoy custom-made tours that will take you whale-watching 130 feet (10 meters) above the water in one of their private fleet of ultra lights.

During your stay, you can also enjoy seven dining options, each with its own personality, menu, china and glassware. Everything from in-room eye opener baskets are delivered to your doorstep with custom made pastries, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and bread to fire pit side dining can be enjoyed.

The experience is cozy, endearing and wholesome. The property has a total of 350 hectares of which only 38 have been used for construction, which offers trails for walking or riding with a spectacular view of the “Valle del General”. Alta Gracia is just two and a half hours from San Jose, or in 25 minutes in private plane, which arrives directly on the resort’s own airstrip or helipad.

While at Alta Gracia, you can be as adventurous as you wish and choose between working out in the largest private cross fit course in Costa Rica, which traverses over its own 3 rivers, stables and mountains, or simply relax while the Calientillo river runs past your feet.

Manuel Antonio

This smallish national park nevertheless offers a wealth of options.for sightseeing. The more passive visitor may want to let the wildlife come to them and take snaps of the local monkey population as they lay on the beach. A two-three hour guided hike, though, will open up much more of the surroundings, though you may want to arrive early as visitor numbers are limited each day.
