Three miles beyond Ambergris Caye, Cayo Espanto is your exclusive private island hideaway. Seven tastefully decorated colorful wooden villas are nestled among the palm trees, with private plunge pools, hammocks and a dedicated butler on hand to ensure that you are well looked after.
The hotel sends you a questionnaire before your arrival to get an idea of your culinary preferences, then fabulous chef Patrick Houghton creates a customized daily menu of dishes, which you can delight in anywhere you choose.
Everything is designed as you like it. Almost any activity featuring water can be enjoyed at Cayo Espanto. Kayaks, pedal boats, fishing rods and other non-motorized sports equipment are at your disposal, and there’s a large range of excursions, including diving, snorkeling and golf.
Infants under one year old stay free and cots are available, although Cayo Espanto is better suited to couples than families.
Second in size only to its Australian cousin, the Belize Reef runs the entire length of its coastline. There are hundreds of small islands, known as Cayes, which vary in size and are ripe for exploring. The diving and snorkeling opportunities are almost endless.
