This lodge is aptly named, as the friendly local giraffes often poke their heads in to say hello to guests. They might even wake you up by tapping on your bedroom window. This colonial style home prides itself on its organic menus and the rooms are incredibly cozy with comfy sofas and even fireplaces.
Nairobi is Kenya’s bustling capital city, often used as a jumping-off point for safari trips. In addition to the worthwhile museums, Karen Blixen’s home and markets in its urban core, the excellent Nairobi National Park is a large game reserve known for breeding endangered black rhinos and home to giraffes, zebras and lions. Next to it is a well-regarded elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
