A huge lakeside complex that contains a hotel and a cultural centre. The rooms are contained in two towers that overlook Titicaca but the main draw is the cultural centre, which recreates an ancient Andean village. The hotel also has amenities such as a spa and two restaurants.
The birthplace of the Inca civilisation – still marked by the ancient rock at Isla del Sol (Sun Island). The waters are still aside from the few boats that cross it, and it is framed by snow-covered mountain peaks. A good day trip is the lakeside town of Copacabana in Bolivia, which has some impressive Inca ruins. On the Peruvian side, the reed floating villages are fascinating.
