Kayak Africa

These twin camps are based on Mumbo and Domwe Islands in Lake Malawi National Park. Both camps have incredible views and permanent walk-in tents on thatched decks overlooking the lake, with beautiful dining areas. The expert guides will take you around the amazing islands of the park in well-maintained kayaks. All kitchen waste is separated and taken back to the mainland; water is pumped from the lake by a solar pump and filtered on the island. The wood and thatch for the decks is sourced in Malawi from local and sustainable sources. The camps support local community initiatives wherever we can and have our own staff micro-loan scheme.

Lake Malawi

This freshwater lake makes up about a third of Malawi’s total area, but what a third that is. The Lake of Stars is also known as Calendar Lake (360 miles long, 52 miles wide) and has wildlife and exotic plants and flowers in abundance. If you’re feeling more active, there’s also a full range of water sports, including diving.
