La Gazelle d’Or
A couple of miles outside walled Taroudant, ‘The Golden Gazelle’ is a luxurious hunting lodge set within 250 fragrant acres of citrus groves, cypress trees, rose bushes and towering bougainvillea. This is one of Morocco’s legendary hotels; colonial-era luxury and décor with a distinctly Moroccan twist. And all around is classic Southern Morocco: canyons, palm-filled gorges, kasbahs, space and villages long ago lost to time.
All 30 suites and cottages are scattered amid the gardens and inside awaits antique Moroccan mosaics, hand-woven rugs and large beds. All also come with a private terrace where breakfast can be served.
Dinner is either served indoors, within beautiful salons, or out on a garden-gazing terrace. An adjacent organic farm supplies all the traditional Moroccan cuisine.
Within the gardens is the 75 ft (25m) freshwater pool, a spa, massage and beauty center, two clay tennis courts, a croquet course, and riding stables (lessons are available).
Taroudant is a Moroccan city located in the Sous Valley in the southern part of the country. It is situated east of Agadir on the road to Ouarzazate and the Sahara desert and south of Marrakech.
