Raas Devi Garh
It seems as if almost the entire hotel is fashioned from white marble, giving the place a lofty, minimalist design feel. The outside architecture, though, is based on the intricate Rajput Palace. This is a hotspot for Bollywood celebrities with amenities and accommodations to reflect this A-list style.
Housed in an imposing 18th-century palace, this heritage, all-suite hotel is set on a hilltop overlooking the town of Delwara. It lies about an hour from Udaipur, and 6 miles (9 km) from the ruins of the 10th-century Sahastra Bahu Temples.
Contemporary suites with bright, minimalist decor provide flat-screen TVs, minibars and coffeemakers, as well as balconies, or private gardens and tented terraces. A Jacuzzi and a plunge pool are available in 1 suite.
There’s an elegant restaurant with a terrace, plus private dining areas and a bar with a tasting menu. Other amenities include a full-service spa and an exercise room, in addition to an outdoor pool, a hot tub and a croquet lawn.
The guided walks on offer in Delwara village are fascinating, and highly recommended.
India has always been hailed as traveler’s heaven, and what makes this country more beautiful and exciting is not just the presence of magnificent monuments but its rich heritage and culture, which is present in various forms throughout the country. Nowhere is this more evident than in Rajasthan’s Delwara, known as the ‘town of the Gods’ due to the high density of temples it contains.
