Sands at Nomad
This boutique resort on Diani Beach is a well-kept secret, and in our opinion even more appealing than some of its more high-profile competitors. Huge baobab trees guard the entrance, which conceal 37 comfortable cottages, many with their own private hot tub. Terraces and lawns stretch right down to the sand.
Mombasa is an island that touts African, Middle Eastern and Asian influences, with mosques alongside churches on the streets. The Old Town and Fort Jesus are the main sightseeing spots in the city, while more upmarket, quieter Diani Beach attracts local sun worshipers and has a wealth of restaurants and bars.
