Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Hands Up Holidays (handsupholidays.com), operated by Hands Up Holidays Ltd, collects, uses, and protects personal information from website visitors and travellers.

Note: this replaces the version dated March 2017, which claimed the site “does not use SSL,” referenced Google AdSense, and was signed off as the founder of Hands Up School Trips — all left over from an older template shared across the brands. This version reflects current practice and should still go through legal review before publishing.

What we collect

When you contact us, request a proposal, or sign up for updates, we collect the information you provide directly — typically your name, email address, phone number, postal address, and details about your travel interests. If you book a trip, we also collect the information needed to arrange it (passport details, dietary and medical information relevant to the trip, emergency contacts).

We do not collect payment card details on the website; any payments are handled through our payment providers’ own secure systems.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and prepare proposals
  • Process and manage bookings
  • Send updates about your trip and, where you’ve opted in, occasional news about new trips and offers
  • Understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site so we can improve it

Cookies and analytics

The site uses cookies, managed through a cookie consent tool, to remember your preferences and to understand aggregate site traffic through Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Tag Manager. You can manage or withdraw consent at any time through the cookie banner, or disable cookies in your browser — this may limit some site functionality. Where your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we do not load non-essential tracking cookies.

How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS (SSL), and we run regular security scanning and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect your information.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted partners who help us operate the business and deliver your trip — for example, in-destination tour operators, charity and NGO partners, and IT service providers — under obligations to keep it confidential and use it only for that purpose.

Your rights

As a New Zealand company, we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. You can ask to see, correct, or ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us below.

If you’re a California resident, the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA) gives you the right to browse anonymously, to be notified of changes to this policy, and to update your information at any time by contacting us.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, children under 13.

Marketing emails

If we send you marketing emails, we identify them clearly, use accurate sender information, and include an unsubscribe link in every message. You can opt out at any time by following that link or contacting us directly.

Data breach notification

In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you within 7 business days of becoming aware of it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
