Teaching in a Masai community
The Maasai communities surrounding the Mara ecosystem are faced with a myriad of problems: scarce medical facilities, severe droughts, high unemployment, high illiteracy, lack of access to clean water, destruction of the natural environment, and harmful traditional practices like female genital mutilation and early marriages of girls.
Education is a key way out of poverty, and you can help teach in a school, as a conversational reading partner, helping children improve their confidence in speaking English.
Successes to date:
– All classrooms are equipped with books, computers and qualified teachers, to increase the children’s opportunities to pursue their chosen career;
– We have set up a scholarship fund to sponsor needy or poor children and enable them to attend school.
