About this project

Paricipate in this conservation project that studies, monitors, and advocates for the sea turtles. The primary activity at this location is to collect data about the turtle population in order to build the knowledge base about turtle behavior, health, and population changes. There is also a rehabilitation center for injured sea turtles.

Finally, you can conduct reforestation projects to improve the habitat for the sea turtles.

Main volunteering activities:
  • Researching population demographics and ecology of the endangered eastern pacific green and the critically endangered eastern pacific hawksbill turtles
  • Preparing boat equipment and checking nets
  • Helping get turtles out of the water
  • Keeping turtles calm whilst on board the boat
  • Taking samples and collecting data
  • Maintaining the equipment
  • Planting new mangroves and studying sea grass
  • Caring, feeding, and cleaning injured turtles
